Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Voippy ("the app") is an iPhone and Android app made by an individual developer ("the developer").

Your recordings and notes stay on your device. They are never sent to the developer or to an ad provider. Since version 1.1, an ad (Google AdMob) appears on the home screen. To show it, Google receives some information about your device (see "Ads" below).

Data collected

The developer doesn't collect your personal information or data. The app has no accounts or sign-in, and the developer uses no analytics. Your recordings, notes, imported files and settings are never sent to the developer or to third parties such as ad providers.

However, Google receives information to show the ad (see "Ads"), and Apple or Google receives information for the purchase that removes ads (see "In-app purchase"), each under its own terms.

Ads

Since version 1.1, the app shows one Google AdMob banner ad at the bottom of the home screen. It isn't shown on the memo screen, in Settings, or anywhere else. If you buy "Remove ads", no ad is shown and the ad code doesn't start.

  • The app asks only for non-personalized ads (ads not based on your behavior or interests).
  • On iPhone, the app doesn't use App Tracking Transparency, so the advertising identifier (IDFA) isn't used. On Android, the app doesn't have the permission to read the advertising ID, so it isn't used.
  • When an ad is shown, Google may receive, to choose the ad, count impressions and interactions, prevent fraud and improve its ad systems: your IP address (used to estimate your approximate location); device information such as device type, OS version and language; interaction information such as app launches and ad taps; diagnostic information about how the app and the ad code run (such as launch speed and crashes); and identifiers tied to the app or device (other than an advertising identifier). The content of your recordings, notes and imported files is not given to Google.
  • How Google handles this information is covered by Google's privacy policy: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
  • If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, before the first ad is shown you can choose whether to consent, in Google's consent form (Google User Messaging Platform). You can change your choice at any time in Settings under "Privacy choices". If you don't consent, ads may be shown in a limited form.

In-app purchase (Remove ads)

"Remove ads" (a one-time purchase) is paid through Apple's App Store on iPhone and Google Play on Android. The app and the developer never receive your card number or other payment details. The app checks on your device, using the App Store or Google Play record, whether you've bought it, and stores the result on your device. No developer server is involved. To get the purchase back on another device or after reinstalling, use "Restore purchase" in Settings.

Data stored on your device

Recordings, notes (with their timestamps, marks and tags), imported audio and settings are stored only in the app's storage on your device.

  • Items you delete stay in Recently deleted for 30 days and are then removed from the device.
  • Deleting the app removes this data from the device.
  • On iPhone, if you use iCloud Backup or another iOS backup, the data may be included according to your iOS settings. On Android, the data is not included in Google backups (a device-to-device transfer to a new phone may copy it). Backups and transfers are Apple or Google features, and the developer can't see them.

Microphone

The microphone is used only to record, and only after you start a recording. Recording continues when you switch to another app, and the system shows a recording indicator (on Android, a notification).

Importing and sharing

  • When you import audio, the app copies only the files you choose. When you open a Voippy file someone sent you, the app imports its contents.
  • When you use Share Voippy or export, the app creates the file or text on your device and passes it to the system share sheet. You choose where it goes (Messages, LINE, Mail, AirDrop and so on), and that service's terms apply. The developer never receives it.

Information from Apple and Google

If you turn on Share With App Developers in iOS settings or use a TestFlight beta, Apple may give the developer crash logs and other diagnostics. On Android, if you share usage and diagnostics data with Google, Google Play may do the same. They are handled under Apple's or Google's privacy policy and used only to fix the app. The developer can see aggregated information such as total sales in App Store Connect or Google Play Console, but cannot identify who bought.
